On Saturday, the total number of coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh surpassed 21 lakh, according to a health bulletin. Following the two-million case milestone on August 20, 2021, the next one lakh cases arrived in 148 days, the longest stretch since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the state.
The total number of cases now stands at 21,01,710, after 4,955 new cases were added in the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. on Saturday. According to the most recent health bulletin, 397 more people were cured in a single day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 20,64,331.
A new death brought the total number of people killed to 14,509. The number of active cases has risen to 22,870, according to the bulletin. In the last 24 hours, Visakhapatnam recorded 1,103 new cases, while Chittoor recorded 1,039 new cases. The remaining 11 districts in the state each added less than 400 new cases, with West Godavari having the lowest number of new cases at 55.
One person died as a result of the virus in West Godavari.
