Congratulations to those who received a precaution dose today: PM

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated everyone who received their ‘precaution dose’ on the first day of the roll-out on Twitter on Monday.

On the first day, more than 9 lakh ‘precaution doses’ were given to the eligible age group, according to the Union health ministry. “A total of 82 lakh vaccine doses were administered until 7 p.m. on Monday,” it added, “bringing India’s total vaccination coverage to 152.78 crores.”
As the country experiences a massive spike in Covid cases, the ‘precaution doses’ are being rolled out.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, 4,91,013 precaution doses were given to healthcare workers, 1,90,383 to frontline workers, and 2,54,868 to people aged 60 and up with comorbidities.

The ‘precaution dose’ for these categories of beneficiaries would be the same Covid-19 vaccine that was given in the previous two doses.
