Cong staged a walkout in the HP Assembly over police pay.

On Saturday, the Opposition Congress staged a walkout from the Himachal Pradesh Assembly after the speaker refused to discuss the issue of pay anomalies for police personnel under an adjournment motion.

On the second day of the winter session, at Tapovan in Dharamshala, Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and several other Congress legislators gave speaker Vipin Parmar a notice for an adjournment motion.

Some Congress legislators have already asked questions in this regard, according to Speaker Vipin Parmar, and they will be answered during question hour on December 13.

He refused to allow the matter to be discussed under an adjournment motion, claiming that the matter isn’t important enough to warrant it.

Congress legislators raised slogans and walked out of the Assembly after the motion was denied.

Later, Parliamentary Minister Suresh Bhardwaj claimed that pay disparities for police officers were caused by a policy implemented by the previous Congress administration in 2015.

According to him, the BJP government has already formed a committee to look into the matter.
