The cyber police in Maharashtra’s Pune metropolis has registered a case in opposition to Bollywood actor Payal Rohatgi for allegedly making a defamatory video on the Nehru-Gandhi household and circulating it on social media, an official stated on Wednesday.
Based on a grievance lodged by a neighborhood Congress chief, the cyber police on Tuesday registered a case beneath Indian Penal Code sections pertaining to selling enmity between two teams, punishment for defamation, and statements conducting public mischief, the official stated.
As per the grievance, the actor together with an unidentified particular person, allegedly created a defamatory video about Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and different members of the Gandhi household, and circulated it on social media.
Taking observe of the video, Congress chief Sangita Tiwari and office-bearers of the social gathering’s Pune metropolis unit approached the police demanding that an offence be registered in opposition to Ms Rohatgi, the official added.
