The BMW R 18 M’s chassis, suspension, bodywork, and accessories have all been modified.
At the Verona Motor Bike Expo, BMW Motorrad unveiled the R 18 M and R 18 Aurora, two new R 18 models. BMW Motorrad Italy, its dealer network, and some Italian customizers worked together to create these bikes.
The BMW R 18 M, an Italian Magazine LowRide and American Dreams project, uses the M logo to justify its sporty appeal. The bike has a clean, streamlined design that draws inspiration from the BMW R 18 retro lines.
While the bike’s mechanicals and electronics haven’t changed, the chassis, suspension, bodywork, and accessories have.
The body weight has been reduced and the riding position has been modified. “The bike should be easy to handle due to its riding position, which is more compact and forward loaded,” said Giuseppe Roncen, LowRide’s director.
The bike’s short exhaust pipe, designed by ER Exhaust Revolution, makes it look more compact and allows for greater lean angles. The short exhaust pipes also highlight the exposed nickel-plated shaft.
Garage 221’s BMW R 18 Aurora is inspired by 1970s cruisers.
Wraparound fenders highlight the bike’s central area. The Batwing supports were made using indicator supports from a BMW R 100 from 1982 and a part of the rear frame from a BMW K 75 from 1991.
The body colour was based on a 1983 BMW RT 100, with the graphics customised in shades and intensity.
