BMW has Launched The All-Electric i4 at a Price of Rs 69.9 Lakh

Following the iX, BMW has unveiled yet another all-electric vehicle, this time in the form of a sedan called the i4.

  • 0-100kmph in 5.7 seconds with a power output of 340bhp.
  • India’s longest range EV with a claimed 590km on a single charge.
  • Extremely slim lithium-ion battery with shorter charging time.

BMW is rapidly electrifying its entire range of vehicles, and after introducing the iX all-electric SUV and the Mini Electric, the first BMW all-electric sedan arrives in showrooms with a cool price tag of Rs 69.9 lakh (ex-showroom).

The i4 is clearly a BMW sedan, with dimensions similar to the 3 Series but with the BMW electric car’s future face. The company even claims that it is the most aerodynamic electric vehicle in its class, which we don’t doubt given that most recent EV launches have leaned toward an SUV crossover shape. The massive closed kidney grille dominates the EV sedan’s appearance, while the sides feature a long wheelbase design with frameless windows and short overhangs in both the front and rear. The integrated lip spoiler boot and L-shaped, flowing rear LED lights distinguish the rear as well. Lightweight aerodynamic wheels serve a practical purpose in addition to complementing the car’s sleek lines.

The BMW Curved Display is now used in BMW’s driver-focused cockpit. The freestanding BMW Curved Display connects a 12.3-inch digital information display behind the steering wheel to a 14.9-inch Control Display with Navigation in the BMW Live Cockpit Professional. The new generation iDrive display and control system, combined with the new BMW Operating System 8, enhances the driver-vehicle interaction. By simply speaking to their BMW Virtual Assistant, passengers can control a variety of functions. Wireless Charging is enabled by the smartphone holder integrated into the center console, and Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure a seamless smartphone connection with the car for access to a variety of functions. With 17 speakers, the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System creates an engrossing audio experience. Parking Assistant with reverse camera makes parking in tight spaces more convenient. When reversing out of a parking spot or narrow driveway, the Reversing Assistant is unrivaled. It keeps track of the last 50 meters driven and assists by steering.

High-quality materials, sport seats and steering wheels, and separate areas for the driver and front passenger are also features of the i4. The back seat can accommodate up to three passengers and is said to have plenty of head and leg room. A three-zone automatic climate control system with a nanofiber filter improves air quality. The 470-litre luggage capacity boot has an automatic opening, and the rear bench seat folds down with a 40/20/40 split to provide maximum storage space and increase the boot capacity to 1290 litres.

Despite being all-electric and having the ability to use a motor on each axle to provide all-wheel drive, BMW has kept the i4 in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, highlighting its sporty intentions with a 50/50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity. Air suspension on the rear axle with automatic self-leveling function aids handling by providing maximum comfort and enhanced stability around sharp bends. The drive unit consists of an electric motor, a single-speed transmission, and electronics that help the i4 achieve a 0 to 100kmph time of 5.7 seconds while producing 340bhp and 430Nm of torque. An ultra-slim (110 mm), high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated in the floor, with a capacity of 80.7kWh and a claimed range of up to 590 kilometers, makes its debut with the i4. As a result, the BMW i4 is now the country’s longest-range electric vehicle. A 50kW DC Charger can charge the i4 from 10% to 80% in 83 minutes, adding 100 kilometers in 18 minutes, while a regular 11kW AC Charger can charge the i4 to full capacity in 8.25 hours. The BMW i4 will come with a complimentary 11kW BMW Wallbox charger with installation as an introductory offer. Streaming video
