BMW CE 04: BMW’s First Electric Scooter Starts Production, Runs 130 Km On Full Charge

The motorcycles of BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler manufacturing unit of the famous luxury car manufacturer BMW (BMW), have also been well-liked. German two-wheeler maker BMW Motorrad has been working on its first electric two-wheeler for a long time. After introducing the concept model in the year 2020, the company officially introduced its all-electric scooter BMW CE 04 in July this year. Now the two-wheeler brand has started production of this full electric scooter. The BMW CE-04 Electric Scooter comes with a unique design. It looks like a futuristic electric scooter inspired by sci-fi movies. The scooter promises to come with a zero-emission powertrain with power-packed performance and an attractive design.

With this, BMW Motorrad has taken a step towards the world of electrification and urban mobility. It was first demonstrated in a concept form in the year 2017. This electric scooter comes with an attractive design and innovative connectivity technology. The company says it brings together transport and communication functions and will transform the experience of urban mobility.

Look And Design

The BMW CE-04 electric scooter is likely to be compared with the petrol powered scooters like Yamaha XMAX, BMW C400. Talking about the look and design of the BMW CE 04 electric scooter, this scooter is based on the CE 04 concept. The scooter gets a light white colored modern surface finish, which comes with a ‘floating’ seat along with matte black sections at the front and sides. It has a long side profile and the trend-setting wheels have a disc-wheel look and side stands. On the other hand, the Avantgarde style variant gets Magellan Gray metallic color body, black/orange seats, orange wind deflector and many graphics.

Motor And Power

The BMW CE 04 electric scooter will be available in two variants – Standard and Avantgarde. The performance of the new BMW CE 04 electric scooter is very strong. The company claims that its electric motor generates maximum power of 31 kW (42 hp). This scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour in just 2.6 seconds. At the same time, its top speed is 120 kilometers per hour. In terms of an electric scooter, this can be considered a very strong speed. It gets a 35mm telescopic fork at the front and pre-loaded adjustable mono shock suspension at the rear. This scooter has a 15 inch wheel.

Battery And Range

This scooter gets a lithium-ion battery pack of 8.9 kWh capacity. The company has fitted it inside the floorboard. Once the battery is fully charged, this scooter can cover a distance of up to 130 km. Its battery charges very quickly. With the help of 6.9 kW charger, the battery can be fully charged in just 1 hour 40 minutes. At the same time, it takes 4 hours 20 minutes to fully charge it through a 2.3 kW charger.

Great Features

The scooter flaunts a standard 10.25-inch TFT color screen, which is integrated with map navigation and connectivity features. The navigation map is displayed in the color screen instrument cluster itself. The headlamps and rear lights of the scooter are based on LED technology. It also gets LED turn indicators and USB-C charging port. The optional Adaptive Turning Light Headlight Pro makes it safe to ride even at night. Apart from this, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Ride Mode and Corning Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) have been given as an option.

Launch And Price

This model is likely to be launched in the international markets by 2022. The base model of the BMW CE 04 is expected to cost around $11,795 (approximately Rs. 8.78 lakh). Whether or not BMW Motorrad will bring this scooter to the Indian market is not confirmed.
