The Prime Minister’s Office announced on Tuesday morning that the Modi government will create 10 lakh jobs in the next 1.5 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed all departments and ministries, according to the PMO, and has directed that one million people be recruited in mission mode over the next one and a half years.

While tweeting on behalf of the PMO, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakar described the job announcement as “another step towards becoming a self-reliant India.” He claimed that PM Modi has made the government more accountable over time, and that the government’s focus has now shifted to the people.
