Amid an Omicron Scare in Karnataka, 69 Students Test Positive for COVID at a Private School

On Saturday, 69 people, including 59 students and 10 staff members, tested positive for COVID-19 at a school in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka.

The DHO also stated that medical and health personnel have been dispatched to treat the patients according to home isolation protocols, and that the school will be closed for a week.

“According to DC Chikkamagaluru’s orders, the school will be closed for the next seven days. A total of 457 samples were collected, with 69 of them testing positive. All precautionary measures are taken in accordance with the Karnataka government’s guidelines “Dr. Umesh, the DHO, stated.

India has a total of 21 Omicron cases

On Thursday, December 2, two men, aged 66 and 46, tested positive for the Omicron variant in Karnataka, according to the Union Health Ministry. On Saturday, December 4, an NRI from Gujarat and a man from Maharashtra tested positive for Omicron.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old Tanzanian man who arrived in Delhi on Sunday, December 5 tested positive for the new COVID variant. After experiencing mild symptoms, he was admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. In Maharashtra, seven more people have tested positive for the Omicron variant.

Karnataka’s COVID situation

Karnataka’s state health department reported 456 new COVID cases and six deaths on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 29,98,099 and 38,230, respectively. According to the department’s COVID-19 bulletin, 330 people were released, bringing the total number of recoveries to 29,52,708. There were 7,132 active cases. With 256 new infections and two deaths, Bengaluru Urban remained the leading source of COVID-19 cases.

The district of Chikkamagaluru reported 66 cases, which were caused by a surge in COVID-19 cases, with a cluster forming in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. All those who tested positive are asymptomatic, according to the District Health Officer, but they have been quarantined to prevent the disease from spreading. Dharwad, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, and Mysuru all reported new COVID-19 cases, with 20 in Dharwad, 17 in Kodagu, 14 in Uttara Kannada, 13 in Dakshina Kannada, 12 in Hassan, and 10 in Mysuru.
