After testing positive for COVID-19, Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the ICU

Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital’s ICU after testing positive for COVID-19.

Mangeshkar’s niece Rchana confirmed the news to ANI, saying that she is experiencing mild symptoms.

Rachna continued, “She is doing well; she was only kept in the ICU for precautionary reasons due to her advanced age. Please keep Didi in your prayers and respect our privacy.”

ETimes was also informed by her spokesperson “Lata Didi had COVID symptoms that were mild. As a precaution, she has been kept in the Breach Candy hospital’s ICU under observation. The family asks that the media respect Lata didi’s privacy and allow her to rest and recover before returning home.”

Mangeshkar had previously been admitted to the hospital in November 2019 due to breathing problems. Usha Mangeshkar, Mangeshkar’s younger sister, reportedly said the singer had a viral infection at the time.

Last September, the legendary singer turned 92 years old. While her birthday was a small gathering, she received many well-wishes for a long and healthy life. Mangeshkar is a frequent user of social media, where she is frequently seen sharing throwback photos and amusing anecdotes with her followers.

Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards have all been bestowed upon Lata Mangeshkar.
