After being Run over by a Truck, A PhD Student Died

A PhD student is killed when he is struck by a truck.

Police in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park neighbourhood stated on Sunday that a 29-year-old PhD student was killed when a speeding truck ran her over.

The incident occurred about 10.20 p.m. on Saturday.

At the Shastri Park police station, officers received a PCR call about a deadly collision. They claimed that complainant Mohammad Muid (34) claimed that his companion Poonam, a resident of Cigrette Wala Bagh in Model Town, was returning from Haridwar.

According to cops, he picked her up from the Old Delhi railway station and was riding her to Khajuri Khas on his scooter.

A truck driver hit his scooter around 10.20 p.m. when he crossed the Yudhister Setu. He landed on the left side of the scooter, while Poonam landed on the right side. According to a senior police official, the truck driver hit her by accident.


During a failed attempt to flee the scene, the driver was apprehended by head constable Mamchand. Poonam was pronounced dead at JPC Hospital, while Muid was also injured in the accident, according to police.

A case has been filed at Shastri Park police station under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing harm by act threatening the life or personal safety of others), and 304A (causing death by negligence), according to the officer.

He has been identified as Pramod Kumar (35), a Pilibhit resident, according to police.
