New Delhi, India: The application process for Delhi Nursery admissions began on December 15 and is still ongoing. Admission to private Delhi schools for the academic year 2022-23 has started for entry-level classes such as Nursery, Kindergarten (KG), and Class 1. Delhi school application forms must be submitted by January 21, 2022. The initial list will be released on February 4 by the Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi, and the admission process will culminate on March 31.
The Department of Education has mandated that the number of seats in entry-level classes not fall below the highest number of seats in entry-level classes for the previous three years (2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22)
“Schools must establish and apply fair, reasonable, well-defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, unambiguous, and transparent admission criteria.” No school may use a criterion that has been eliminated by the department, such as charging capitation fees or accepting donations. According to an official statement, “pre-schools or montessori schools administered by registered societies or trusts as branches of recognised independent schools would have to follow a single admission process for their pre-school and main school, as they will be considered as one institution.”
Admission to Delhi Schools’ Entry-Level Classes: Age Requirements
By March 31, 2022, the minimum age for admission to pre-school (nursery), pre-primary (KG), and Class 1 is three years, four years, and five years, respectively. The Delhi Government has given directions for open category admissions, excluding seats for Economically Weaker Sections, Disadvantaged Groups (EWS/DG), and Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
