Six airbags and equipment such as a heads-up display will be standard on the new Baleno; it will be priced competitively.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Baleno 2022 in late February 2022. It will receive a significant facelift, an all-new cabin, and a slew of class-leading features, positioning it to compete with the Hyundai i20 and others. While the 2022 Baleno will be more expensive than the current model, Maruti insiders believe it will remain competitively priced against the Hyundai i20, which starts at Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec turbo automatic and is roughly Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the most expensive Baleno on sale today.
The New Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 will have a Feature-Rich Cabin. Infotainment System Toyota-Maruti
While Hyundai has historically been the leader in terms of feature introduction, Maruti will step up its game with the new Baleno. Wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all on the horizon. Additionally, the new Baleno will feature a larger, free-standing touchscreen with an all-new interface developed in collaboration with Toyota. The Baleno is likely to be the first vehicle to feature this new configuration. While the two companies’ systems will differ in some ways, both are likely to offer similar features. Certain variants of the system may include connected technology – another first for Maruti Suzuki – and the company is also developing a suite of connected features tailored specifically for Indian customers.
While cooled seats are unlikely to be included in the package, Maruti Suzuki will offer a heads-up display, or HUD, on the new Baleno as a key differentiator. While the system is unlikely to be as customisable as those found in luxury automobiles, a reasonable amount of useful configuration will be possible for the display. This will improve active safety in a small way by allowing drivers to maintain their focus on the road.
The New Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 Features up to Six Airbags and a Stronger Steel Frame
Additionally, the new Baleno will prioritise providing a safer experience for customers. On top models, the airbag count will be increased to six – driver and passenger airbags, as well as curtain bags for both front and rear passengers. Additionally, higher-end models may include an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that can steer the vehicle in an emergency by utilising individual wheel braking. Maruti Suzuki will also use a thicker grade of steel on the outer body panels and other areas of the chassis to give the vehicle a more robust feel. While this may not significantly improve rigidity, the car will undoubtedly feel better built.
The New Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 may Feature an Automatic Transmission
To keep the Baleno affordable, Maruti Suzuki is also expected to discontinue the expensive CVT automatic and replace it with a Swift-like single clutch automatic or AMT. Also referred to as Auto Gear Shift by Maruti, this will be a step back in terms of smooth operation, particularly in comparison to the current CVT. However, the switch to an AMT transmission is likely to reduce the price of the automatic version by approximately Rs 60,000.
While paddle shifters are unlikely to make their way to the Baleno, similar to the Swift, you will be able to intervene and manually shift gears.
The New Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 will Feature an All-New Cabin
Along with the refreshed exteriors, which include a flatter and wider nose and wider-looking taillights, the 2022 Baleno will receive an entirely new interior. The new floating centre console is the focal point, with a new free-standing screen on top and a pair of vents below. The air conditioning controls are located beneath these and are nicely integrated into the organic-looking and layered dash.
While the spy shots show dull colours, the sporty instrument panel features a pair of deep-set clear dials, a multi-information display in the centre, and Maruti Suzuki’s Swift-derived sporty flat bottom steering wheel. Currently, the upgrade does not include a fully digital instrument panel.
The New Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 will be Reasonably Priced
Maruti Suzuki has historically priced its vehicles in line with buyer expectations, and this is unlikely to change with the 2022 Baleno.
Yes, the company will increase the price of the new car in comparison to the current one, which means the price differential between the Baleno and Hyundai i20, which is currently between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh, will narrow. However, we expect prices to be in the range of Rs 6.5 lakh-10.5 lakh, which, according to dealers, gives it a reasonable chance of success. Since its launch in 2015, the Baleno has sold more than ten lakh units.
